Electronic replacement voltage regulator with metal housing.
Bolt-on replacement. ADJUSTABLE voltage setting allows charging system to be maximized for city use / low speed slow engine revs.
Rated at 14.3 volts; can be adjusted to a higher voltage, simply turn the small screw on the regulator clockwise to get a HIGHER voltage, turn counterclockwise to decrease. Can also be set lower, but should not drop below 13.7 volts as this may not be enough to overcome the internal resistance of the battery.
Technical information: Preset to 14.3 volt trim setting; Adjustable voltage setting allows optimization of proper voltage for lower speed city driving. Must be used with caution as overcharging with a higher voltage setting can and will damage the battery.
Testing the voltage regulator: Jumpering the D+ and DF connections on the regulator plug should give a voltage reading of approximately 16 volts on the battery with the engine running and the rotor, stator and diode board/rectifier functioning correctly.
For conventional or AGM batteries, it is recommended that the voltage does not exceed (14.5 V) and does not fall below 13.7 V.
For lithium batteries, please contact the battery manufacturer. Most manufacturers recommend a maximum of 14.1 V.
